Anxiety and Depression

Some people in our community are affected by anxiety and depression. This could be because they feel isolated, have poor health, are experiencing homophobia or discrimination, are alienated from their families or have a poor sense of self-worth.
Symptoms of anxiety include:
- Excessive worrying
- Heart palpitations
- Sweating
- Shortness of breath
- Difficulty relaxing, sleeping or concentrating
Symptoms of depression include:
- Changes in appetite
- Decreased libido
- Excessive crying
- Difficulty getting out of bed/lack of interest in daily activities
- Thoughts about self harm

ACON can help you...
We have trained in-house counsellors or we can refer you to other people who specialise in particular areas. Building trust and respect between you and your counsellor helps to identify the triggers which lead to anxiety and/or depression.
